Our Story

Ukraine War Rugs unites Ukrainian design with Afghani tradition. The tradition of war rugs originated in Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation in 1979, when artisans began to weave images of tanks and other military equipment into their works.

This experience became especially close to Ukrainians after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, making this cultural connection between Ukraine and Afghanistan extremely relevant. For Afghan craftswomen, this craft has become the only way to earn a living after the Taliban came to power.

For us, it is an opportunity to support our local artists and military by using carpets as a fundraising element. We are always open to cooperation with units of the Ukrainian Military, and 20% of all sales go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
